PÔ — On Thursday, Nahouri Province celebrated the graduation of 25 internally displaced women who completed a training program in shea butter production, and residue processing into charcoal briquettes, soap, and ointment in Pô. This initiative was spearheaded by the Lougouzéna de Pô federation with the backing of the FAFPA.
According to Burkina Information Agency, president of the Lougouzéna federation, the project aimed to equip these women with skills that would lead to self-sufficiency, thereby benefiting the entire community. She emphasized the importance of resilience and authenticity in response to the security and humanitarian challenges facing Burkina Faso. Zouré also called on the women of Nahouri to provide a familial support network to help the displaced women overcome their hardships.
Christine Bassorobou, representing the trainees, expressed gratitude for the skills they acquired, which she believes will foster their independence and aid in their eventual return to their original communities. The ceremony was also marked by the contribution of the Support Fund for Vocational Training and Apprenticeship (FAFPA), which provided the federation with equipment worth 11,254,200 CFA francs.
Sanfiénalé Joseph Sirima, the secretary general of Nahouri Province, who presided over the event, praised the federation's efforts and encouraged the graduates to share their new skills within the community. Each of the 25 women received an installation kit to start their own production, furthering the goal of creating sustainable livelihoods amid ongoing displacement.
The training was conducted by Agro Medic SARL, ensuring professional guidance for these essential skills.
