Nahouri: Around fifty girls trained in African culinary art

The Djoatina de Pô association “hope of tomorrow” closed on Saturday September 16, 2023 in Pô, province of Nahouri, the activities of the young girls vacation area, 7th edition. A springboard to promote traditional African culinary art. It was the high commissioner of the province of Nahouri, Auguste Kinda, who chaired the closing ceremony

African culinary art was in the spotlight in the town of Po for two weeks. Indeed, the Djoatina de Pô association “hope of tomorrow” organized for the seventh consecutive time an activity to promote African culinary art in general and Kassena in particular.

For two weeks, around fifty young girls from the five municipalities of the province were trained and supervised in culinary arts.

They were also made aware of educational talks such as the responsible use of social networks, sexual and reproductive health, road safety, social cohesion and youth entrepreneurship.

According to the president of the Djoatina de Pô association, Salimata Bayigabou, insecurity, poverty and socio-cultural prejudices are obstacles to the emancipation of women.

For Mmne. Bayigabou, many homes are experiencing problems due to insufficient knowledge of the values that govern their functioning. She believes that the activities included in this edition will allow young girls to strengthen their abilities in various areas.

For the girls’ representative, Zangouyo B. Marina, the two weeks were more than beneficial for them. They learned to prepare several local dishes under the guidance of the trainers. They also had tips that will allow them to live in harmony in a home. In her opinion, “a housewife who is not able to offer her man a good traditional meal is comparable to a farmer without a daba”.

They are committed to using the knowledge acquired for the benefit of the entire community. The sponsor of the activity, El hadj Adama Haïdara, CEO of STHAF in Dakola and the High Commissioner of Nahouri praised the consistency of the association in organizing the activities. They are committed to supporting such initiatives as part of improving the living conditions of women, especially those who are vulnerable.

As a reminder, the Djoatina de Pô association also organized this year, among other activities, Widow’s Day, training around fifty internally displaced women and women living with disabilities in saponification.
