Nahouri: 20 tons of food have been made available to the residents of the commune of Pô at a reduced social price, thanks to the National Company for the Management of Security Stocks (SONAGESS). The initiative, which primarily involves the sale of corn, commenced this Monday, November 18, 2024, in Pô.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the municipality of Pô received 20 tonnes of food, primarily corn, from SONAGESS. The food is being sold at a subsidized rate of 6,000 CFA francs per 50 kg bag. This initiative aims to support the local population by providing affordable food options.
Denise Ky, the agent in charge of the sale, highlighted that priority is being given to the elderly, those living with disabilities, vulnerable people, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). This prioritization reflects an effort to ensure that the most in-need individuals have access to essential food supplies.
The strong demand and enthusiasm from the population indicate a significant need for continuous and regular
supply of these foodstuffs. Residents are hopeful that ongoing access to affordable food will bring much-needed relief to their communities.
In addition to Pô, other communes such as Tiébélé, Zecco, and Ziou have also benefited from similar support earlier in November, each receiving 20 tonnes of corn, including 10 tonnes of sorghum and 10 tonnes of corn.
