DOUMTINGA, SAPONÉ — Naba Koanga, the newly enthroned village chief of Doumtinga, officially took office in his palace on June 29 and 30, 2024, following his enthronement in Ouagadougou by Mogho Naba Baongo, emperor of the Mossis, on September 5, 2023.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony began with the arrival of about ten emissaries from Mogho Naba Baongo, marking the official entry of Naba Koanga into his role. The event saw a significant turnout from Doumtinga and neighboring villages, celebrating the new chief’s installation with traditional prayers, allegiance pledges, and communal festivities. Naba Koanga, who is the fourth chief in line since the throne became vacant in 2008, expressed his gratitude for the community's support and called for unity and cooperation to further the village’s development. He also acknowledged the government of Burkina Faso for establishing an annual day of traditions and customs, highlighting its importance in preserving cultural heritage.
