MVA Fund Reports Alarming Road Accident Statistics for January

WINDHOEK: The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund has released concerning statistics for road accidents in January, noting an average of one death per day.



According to The Namibia Press Agency, the MVA Fund Chief Executive Officer, the period from January 1 to January 28, 2024, saw 158 road crashes resulting in 335 injuries and 29 fatalities. The Fund expressed condolences for a particularly tragic crash near Okashandja village, which resulted in eight deaths. Hausiku emphasized the importance of road safety and the preventable nature of most accidents, calling on drivers to adhere to traffic rules, plan journeys carefully, and avoid driving at night. The MVA Fund’s statement serves as a reminder of the critical need for vigilance and responsible driving to reduce road traffic accidents and their devastating impact on families and the community.
