Muslims and Leaders Unite in Prayers for Peace in Burkina Faso

Tenkodogo: Muslims, authorities, and traditional leaders gathered in Tenkodogo to offer prayers for peace, social cohesion, and the protection of the armed forces during the Eid al-Adha celebration. The event was presided over by the Grand Imam of Tenkodogo, El Hadj Mahamoudou Sana, at the main prayer square in Sector 4, adjacent to the municipal high school. Following the two rakats, the King of Tenkodogo, His Majesty Naaba Guiguempol©, performed the sacrifice of a rooster, a ram, and an ox to implore peace for Burkina Faso and the kingdom.

According to Burkina Information Agency, thousands of Muslim worshippers arrived early to perform the two rakats, marking the celebration of Tabaski. The Grand Imam emphasized the spiritual importance of the festival, commemorating the Prophet Abraham's act of faith. He highlighted that Tabaski is also a time for solidarity and sharing, explaining that the sheep meat is divided into three parts: one for the family, another for friends, and the third for the needy.

Prayers were offered for the return of peace to Burkina Faso, with the Grand Imam encouraging increased supplications for security. He also advised young people to behave responsibly during the festivities, urging them to celebrate with their families and avoid reckless behavior.

Governor of the Nakamb© region, Abraham Yiy© Somdah, acknowledged the prayers for peace and stability. He noted that Muslims prayed for the fighting forces and the Burkinabe pilgrims in Mecca, emphasizing that this mobilization should strengthen unity among Burkinabe people amid security and social challenges.

The King of Tenkodogo, His Majesty Naaba Guiguempol©, conducted the ritual immolation after the prayers, seeking peace for both the nation and the kingdom. Administrative, customary, religious authorities, and defense and security forces participated in the celebration, expressing hope for lasting peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso.
