Muslim Faithful in Burkina Faso Pray for Peace During Eid el Kebir Festival


HOUNDÉ, TUY – The Muslim community in Houndé, the capital of Tuy province, gathered on Sunday, June 16, 2024, to celebrate the festival of Eid el Kebir, also known as Tabaski.



According to Burkina Information Agency, who led the prayers at a primary school in the city, the faithful prayed for peace and stability to return to Burkina Faso. The large prayer was held at various public locations throughout Houndé, emphasizing the community’s plea for national cohesion and peace.



The High Commissioner of Tuy, Issiaka Segda, attended the event, sharing in the prayers and expressing his support for the Muslim community’s efforts towards national stability. He emphasized the importance of continuing to pray for peace amidst the ongoing security challenges in the country. The High Commissioner also took the occasion to extend his wishes for a joyous Tabaski celebration to all attendees, urging them to maintain piety and sobriety during the festivities.
