Okakarara: A 22-year-old man linked to the death of the 17-year-old Angela Mbakera, who was allegedly stabbed 13 times last Thursday, was arrested on Sunday at Okakarara. Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, confirmed the arrest during an interview with Nampa on Monday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the suspect had fled the scene and was evading law enforcement since the incident. It is alleged that the suspect was seen walking with Mbakera last Thursday afternoon in the Okakango location at Okakarara. Shortly afterward, Mbakera’s lifeless body, covered in fresh blood, was discovered in a footpath by a passerby.

Members of NamPol at Okakarara were promptly informed and responded to the crime scene, where they found the victim with 13 stab wounds. A search for the suspect was launched immediately. The suspect was apprehended on Sunday afternoon in the town, and a kitchen knife, believed to have been used in the stabbing, was
also recovered.

The suspect is facing a murder charge and is expected to appear in the Okakarara Magistrate’s Court this week. Police investigations are ongoing.
