Murang'a: Leaders in Murang'a have called upon residents to turn up in large numbers to welcome President William Ruto during his scheduled visit on Friday, April 24, 2026. Led by Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, the leaders emphasized the importance of a peaceful and cooperative atmosphere, highlighting the various development projects that have benefited the county under the current administration.
According to Kenya News Agency, Wahome, speaking at a women empowerment programme in Mbiri Primary School grounds, Kiharu, revealed that the government has lined up significant projects for commissioning during the presidential tour. These include initiatives in Affordable Housing and modern markets valued at over 27 billion shillings. She highlighted ongoing projects such as the construction of modern markets in Kambirwa and Kayole and urged residents to support these efforts for community development.
Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi outlined the benefits of upcoming government investments for the youth, including the construction of two international-standard stadia, each with a 10,000-seat capacity. These facilities are expected to nurture and develop local talent, with projects like Mirira Sports Academy and Mumbi Stadium in focus.
Murang'a Woman Representative Betty Maina criticized opposition leaders for engaging in premature campaigns and incitement, urging them to focus on development projects. Meanwhile, Communications Authority of Kenya Chairman Charles Karondo stressed the need for responsible use of digital platforms to ensure credible processes and access to accurate information.
During the event, women groups received financial support to boost their businesses, reflecting ongoing empowerment efforts in the county. President Ruto's visit is expected to further the development agenda in Murang'a with the launch and commissioning of key projects.
