Murang’a: Members of County Assembly (MCAs) of Murang’a took time during their morning sitting to eulogize their colleague, Mark Wainaina, who passed away on November 13 while receiving treatment in a Nairobi hospital.
According to Kenya News Agency, the assembly’s speaker, through his deputy Moses Gachui, conveyed heartfelt condolences to Wainaina’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
“The Honorable Speaker, Members, and staff of the Assembly joined the people of Murang’a in mourning the death of Hon. Mark Gicheru Wainaina, Nominated Member of the County Assembly,” said the deputy speaker. Gachui praised Wainaina as a vibrant youthful intellectual debater on climate change and ICT issues and a relentless advocate for persons living with disabilities and social justice.
Nominated MCA Sharleen Wambui expressed that the assembly and the county at large had lost a noble and incredible man who fought for the young people. As Chairperson of the Assembly’s committee on Youth and Cultu
re, she acknowledged Wainaina’s significant contributions to policies and bills impacting Murang’a’s youth, including the establishment of the Murang’a Youth Service that provided job opportunities.
Muguru MCA Moses Muchiri shared his shock and sorrow at the untimely demise of Wainaina, describing him as a great leader and scholar who served humanity. He expressed gratitude for Wainaina’s service and wished comfort to his family during this difficult time.
Kakuzi/Mitubiri MCA Steven Muigai reflected on losing an honest friend and promising individual, acknowledging Wainaina’s involvement in the UDA Secretariat. Ithanga MCA Alex Ndunda remembered Wainaina as a hardworking friend to many with a vision in life.
Mark Wainaina will be laid to rest on November 23, 2024, at his home in Kirogo Village, Wangu Ward, Murang’a County. Rest in Peace, Mark Wainaina.
