MURANG’A: Murang’a County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha has delivered a strong warning to bar operators involved in the sale of illicit liquor or those operating without the necessary permits. Speaking at the Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Ihura Stadium, Nkanatha highlighted the continued prevalence of illicit brews and drugs in the county, emphasizing the intensified efforts by security agencies to combat these illegal activities during the festive season.
According to Kenya News Agency, Commissioner Nkanatha assured the public that security teams are actively working to address the issue without targeting legitimate business owners. He noted the tendency of certain individuals to exploit the festive period by selling illegal alcohol, reaffirming that security teams would not tolerate such conduct. Nkanatha called on bar operators to comply with legal requirements and ensure customer safety.

Furthermore, he cautioned motorists against driving under the influence, announcing that traffic police would be stationed across the county to enforce regulations.
Nkanatha advised motorists to arrange for sober drivers or alternative transportation if intoxicated, underscoring the commitment to road safety. He warned against endangering lives through drunk driving. Addressing the issue of gender-based violence, Nkanatha encouraged couples to resolve conflicts peacefully, advocating for non-violent solutions and emphasizing the detrimental impact of violence.
Lastly, Nkanatha advised residents to maintain financial responsibility during the Christmas period, prioritizing essential needs such as school fees and uniforms for children.
