Multiple Fraud and Tragic Accident Cases Reported Over the Weekend in Namibia

SWAKOPMUND, ERONGO REGION — In a separate but similarly deceitful incident, the Namibian Police are investigating a case where a pensioner in Swakopmund lost over N.dollars 200,000 to fraud. The elderly victim was contacted by a woman claiming to be from Bank Windhoek, who manipulated the situation by sending a fraudulent bank notification and requesting login details purportedly to halt a wrongful transaction. The suspect then transferred N.dollars 225,800 to various accounts.



According to Namibia Press Agency, In another distressing event, a fatal accident occurred at Omafo village near the Helao Nafidi Town Council office in the Ohangwena Region, where 16-year-old Naufiku Shangelao Johannes was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road. The incident, which took place around 13:00 on Saturday, resulted in the immediate death of the teenager. Authorities have since informed Johannes’ next of kin.



Additionally, in the Kunene Region, Sesfontein police have arrested a 52-year-old man found in possession of cannabis plants and seeds. The value of the confiscated drugs has not been disclosed.



Police are continuing their investigations into all these matters, highlighting a weekend marked by criminal activity and personal tragedy across multiple regions in Namibia.
