Windhoek: The overall budget for the second edition of the Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) Branding and Marketing Indaba reached N.dollars 4.6 million, marking an increase from last year's allocation of between N.dollars 4.4 million and N.dollars 4.5 million. This increase was primarily due to the introduction of the Excellence Awards.
According to Namibia Press Agency, MTC Public Relations Officer Erasmus Nekundi mentioned on Monday that the three-day event included the Excellence Awards, with prize money of N.dollars 20 000 per category, along with trophies. The number of delegates attending the 2026 event grew to 400, up from 300 the previous year.
The Indaba featured a variety of presentations and guest speakers, in addition to the newly introduced Excellence Awards, which garnered 109 entries. Out of these, 44 were shortlisted as nominees. Most categories had three nominees, except for the Best TV Commercial of the Year category, which had two.
Nekundi further explained that the N.dollars 4.6 million budget covered all aspects of the event, such as lighting, two venues, local and international speakers, the gala dinner, and entertainment. Participants and speakers hailed from several African countries, including Malawi, Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, and Rwanda.
