MTC Pledges N.dollars 150,000 for 2026 Lderitz Crayfish Festival

Lderitz: Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has pledged N.dollars 150,000 towards the 2026 Lderitz Crayfish Festival, reaffirming its commitment to community empowerment and sustainable development. The announcement was made during the festival's fundraising gala dinner held in Lderitz on Friday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the sponsorship forms part of a broader effort by stakeholders to support one of Namibia's prominent cultural and tourism events. MTC Corporate Affairs Manager, John Ekongo, emphasized the company's dedication to supporting platforms that foster economic participation and uplift local communities.

Ekongo stated, "We believe in investing in platforms that empower communities and unlock economic opportunities. The Lderitz Crayfish Festival continues to play a vital role in supporting local entrepreneurs and driving sustainable development, and we are proud to be part of its growth."

He further elaborated on MTC's corporate social investment strategy, which focuses on initiatives that strengthen local economies and contribute to long-term national development. "Annually, we commit a total of N.dollars 1.2 million in sponsorships to various trade shows and expos across the country, permitting us to continue impacting the social and economic development initiatives positively," Ekongo added.

The Lderitz Crayfish Festival is widely regarded as a key platform celebrating Namibian culture and heritage while also promoting inclusive economic growth. The annual event is scheduled to take place from 28 April to 03 May 2026.
