Oshakati: Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has committed N.dollars 624.9 million in capital expenditure for the 2025/26 financial year to strengthen Namibia's digital and telecommunications infrastructure. According to Namibia Press Agency, the investment was announced during the ICT High-Level Stakeholder Engagement held in Oshakati. MTC's Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo, stated that the budget will fund key projects aimed at improving network performance, expanding connectivity, and enabling future-ready digital services across the country. 'This capital allocation is supporting initiatives such as network optimisation and modernisation, information and communication technology upgrades, transmission expansion, construction of new network towers, and power infrastructure investments for network sites,' Ekandjo said. The investment is particularly important in extending network coverage to underserved and remote areas, ensuring broader access to relia ble telecommunications services for all Namibians, he added. MTC further emphasised that it plans to invest in power infrastructure initiatives to improve operational continuity and strengthen network resilience across its footprint. 'In addition, a portion of the allocated capital provides funding for new strategic business initiatives aligned with MTC's long-term growth objectives and innovation agenda,' the statement said.
