Mrabet attends Summit-level Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group in response to COVID-19

Health Minister Ali Mrabet participated Thursday in the Summit-level Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group in response to COVID-19. The event is attended by heads of state and government representatives of 76 countries.

This meeting is of crucial importance as it offers the opportunity to debate post-COVID global recovery as well as mechanisms and recommendations to address the social, health and economic impact of the pandemic, Mrabet said.

Tunisia played a key role in unifying visions, the minister added, through the Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2532 on July 1, 2020.

The draft resolution, which provides for the “cessation of hostilities in the context of the coronavirus disease,” was sponsored by Tunisia and France, the ministry said in a press release.

International cooperation is required to step up joint action in a bid to improve the availability of medicines and vaccines and meet global challenges, the ultimate purpose being to attain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Tunisia, a member of the Non-Aligned Movement, is committed to contributing to global recovery and the building of a better and more resilient world where solidarity, peace and prosperity prevail.
