MPs Advocate for Science-Driven Economic Diversification in Hula

Humpata: The Members of the Nacional residing in the province emphasized the significance of transitioning from empirical work to a scientific and technical foundation as a sustainable approach to achieving the diversification of the national economy. This sentiment was echoed during their visit to the business group for Integration and Development of Enterprises "Unione" in Humpata, Hula.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Jos© Miºdo Ndambuca, the coordinator of the group's MPs, stated that economic diversification cannot remain a theoretical concept; it must be practically implemented. He cited the Unione group's efforts as a testament to this transition. The group offers technical areas such as carpentry, metalwork, electricity, administration, and more significantly, pedagogical areas that include a secondary institute with courses in agricultural sciences and nursing.

Ndambuca noted the importance of such initiatives, as they address the demand for young professionals with practical experience. At Unione, students can simultaneously study and apply theoretical knowledge in practice. He also pointed out that despite the company's workforce being halved from 400 due to the international economic situation, all employees are still covered by the National Social Security Institute.

Fernando Gomes, CEO of the Unione group, highlighted that the parliamentary visit underscored the importance of laws and their applicability in understanding the needs of the population and companies to build a robust State. He elaborated on the 'Polis' project, designed as an integrated and sustainable development center aimed at fostering economic diversification through essential activities for the national economy.

The 'Polis' project serves as a hub for companies engaging in real activities such as hospitality, industrial maintenance, pig farming, agriculture, health, metalwork, civil construction, and personnel training. Besides visiting the 'Polis' project, the MPs also toured the Semogases company of Semogest and the Provincial Education Office during the week.
