LUANDA: Angolans must remain united and boost national production, as well as move towards sustainable development to honor those who fought to achieve National Independence, the vice-president of the ruling MPLA, Luísa Damião, said Monday in Luanda. Speaking to the press during a tribute to the heroes of National Independence, at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, the party leader explained that the unity of Angola’s children will bring development to the country and honor to all Angolans.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Luísa Damião emphasized the importance of following a path of unity after 49 years filled with achievements and challenges. She highlighted that the current year’s motto emphasizes national unity, production, and sustainable development, urging Angolans to preserve and value past achievements while working towards building a better future.
The vice-president called on Angolan society to commit and engage actively in their respective sectors to honor the efforts of those who fought
for the country’s National Independence. Angola gained independence on November 11, 1975, following many years under Portuguese colonial rule.
