Luanda: The President of the governing MPLA, Joo Louren§o, announced that his party is poised to continue as the leading force of the Angolan nation. This declaration was made during the opening of the 10th meeting of the MPLA Central Committee, which is primarily focused on organizing the party's 9th Ordinary Congress.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Joo Louren§o emphasized the MPLA's commitment to renewal and adaptation to meet the demands of Angola's evolving political, economic, and social landscape. His remarks underscored the party's historical journey, celebrating 70 years of existence marked by significant achievements inspired by its founding leaders.
The MPLA leader stressed the importance of maintaining a steadfast commitment to advancing the Angolan people and the nation at large. He highlighted the party's ability to adapt to changing circumstances, showcasing its flexibility in policy adjustments and the adoption of new methodologies suitable for different historical contexts.
In light of current political dynamics, Louren§o asserted that the MPLA remains the largest political entity in Angola, open to dialogue and consensus-building. The Central Committee meeting will focus on the convocation of the IX Ordinary Congress in December, which aims to evaluate the current term's work and establish new strategic directions for the party.
Louren§o also noted that the congress would refresh the mandates of the MPLA's governing bodies across all levels and prepare the party for the general elections slated for 2027. The Central Committee is tasked with reviewing the congress's convocation, agenda, principles, methodology, and action schedule, ensuring a comprehensive organizational process.
The formation of the National Preparatory Commission for the IX Ordinary Congress is also on the agenda. This commission will coordinate and oversee the process, including organizational activities, training for party members, and the execution of grassroots assemblies and conferences.
