Mozambique – The Mozambican government has announced a partnership with a consortium led by the French energy giant EDF to construct a $5 billion hydroelectric project. This agreement marks a significant step in Mozambique’s efforts to utilize the energy potential of one of Africa’s largest rivers.
According to Africa News Agency, the Mphanda Nkuwa dam and hydroelectric plant will be situated along the Zambezi River in the Tete province, northern Mozambique. The project’s first phase is expected to generate 1,500 megawatts of electricity, enhancing the country’s energy production capabilities.
