Mouhoun: Citizen monitoring activities have been officially launched in Ouarkoye, Mouhoun province, to support the Transition and its leader, President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. The National Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations (CNAVC), through its provincial section of Mouhoun, inaugurated the communal coordination of citizen watch on Saturday, November 16, 2024, marking a significant step towards reinforcing sovereignty in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the installation ceremony was marked by a strong turnout of residents from various neighborhoods and surrounding villages in Ouarkoye, who gathered to express their steadfast support for the Transition authorities, the FDS, and the VDP. These entities have been instrumental in reclaiming national territory from terrorist control, which had previously led to population displacement, closure of essential social services, and the relocation of certain administrative functions.

During the event, the representative of the de
legation of the customary council and the Chief of the canton of Ouarkoye paid homage to Captain Ibrahim Traoré and his government, applauding their determination to revitalize the well-being of the Burkinabe people. He also extended his congratulations to the FDS and VDP for their relentless efforts to restore peace and stability, while acknowledging the role of customary and religious authorities in supporting the armed forces through their prayers.

Alidou Anselme Traoré, the 1st Vice-President of the special municipal delegation of Ouarkoye, commended the community’s mobilization and urged them to uphold patriotic values and foster peace and cohesion among various religious and ethnic groups. He emphasized the importance of daily civic commitments and respect for national symbols and those of allied countries.

Fioza Fulbert Tamini, the coordinator of the citizen watch associations in Ouarkoye, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, which he sees as a promising foundation for the success of futu
re initiatives in the commune. He called on the youth to lead by example and contribute actively to the FDS and VDP’s efforts. Tamini also reminded the public that the activities of the CNAVC’s Ouarkoye section would rely on voluntary contributions, without soliciting financial support for citizen monitoring.

Alassane Sanogo, responsible for security issues within the CNAVC’s provincial coordination, praised the participation, particularly of women, which reflects their commitment to the CNAVC’s objectives and their patriotism. He encouraged the communal section to continue mobilizing support for the Transition authorities’ endeavors to achieve complete sovereignty in Burkina Faso.

The ceremony concluded with the establishment of a roundabout adorned in the colors of AES countries and their partner Russia, designated as the night watch location in Ouarkoye. Young people were urged to be vigilant and actively participate in the night civic watch to safeguard the community from potential threats.
