Mouhoun Department Hosts First Flag-Raising Ceremony of the Year at CEG Notre Dame de la Consolation

Ouagadougou: The Notre Dame de la Consolation General Education College (CEG) served as the setting, on Monday, January 5, 2026, for the rotating ceremony of raising the colors of the department of Safan, thus marking the first gathering of the year around the symbols of the Nation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the rotating flag-raising ceremony of the department of Safan took place under the President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Safan, Ali Traor, in the presence of the canton chief of Safan, His Majesty El Adj Dr Sina Sr, constituted bodies, educational officials as well as students from the host establishment.

At the opening of the ceremony, the director of the CEG, Sister Sylvie Yamogo, expressed her satisfaction and gratitude for the choice made on her establishment. On this occasion, she retraced the college's history, introduced the teaching staff, and expressed wishes for success and prosperity to all stakeholders in the education system and the authorities present.

Speaking particularly to the students, the canton chief of Safan reminded them that school constitutes the foundation of all individual and collective development. His Majesty El Adj Dr Sina Sr urged the learners to show attentiveness and discipline towards their educators, while inviting them to cultivate respect for the national flag, the ultimate symbol of citizenship and patriotism. He also reaffirmed his constant commitment to social cohesion and living together.

Concluding the speeches, the PDS of Safan praised the high sense of patriotism of the constituted bodies and the customary authority. Ali Traor stressed that the raising of the colors remains a privileged framework for strengthening national unity and social cohesion, inviting each citizen to take responsible actions for the reconstruction of Burkina Faso. He finally presented his wishes for success and peace for the year 2026, before announcing that the next ceremony will be held at the CEG of Tounou, on the first Monday of February.

Alongside this activity, the authorities visited the CEG school garden, currently in the nursery phase, an initiative led by the Notre Dame de la Consolation primary school.
