Morocco wins the 4th edition of the CAN U23 ahead of Egypt (2-1)

The Lionceaux de l’Atlas (U23) of Morocco won Saturday at the Prince Abdellah Moulay stadium in Rabat, the 4th edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) football category, by beating in the final their counterparts, the Pharaohs (U23) of Egypt by the score of 2 goals to 1, noted the AIB on the spot. Half time: 1-1.

Yet it was the young Egyptians who started the game with a bang. They pressed high and managed to open the scoring early in the morning through Mahmoud Saber (10 ‘ ). Supported by a public who did not haggle over their trip to the stadium, the Lionceaux restored parity in the score thanks to Yanis Begraoui (37’ ) .

The two teams come back pumped up and take turns dominating each other until regulation time without being able to score. We had to wait for extra time for the host country team to take responsibility for the winning goal.

Oussama Targhaline (105 th +2) takes a free kick struck in two stages and low to the ground to beat the Egyptian goalkeeper. Despite the exclusion of its striker Mahmoud Saber (17th ) the Pharaohs U23 carried out a few assaults in the Moroccan camp without being able to find the net.

Morocco wins the CAN U23 trophy for the first time and succeeds Egypt, winner in 2019, of the 3rd edition . The Cubs and the Pharaohs are qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as are the Aiglons of Mali, which won 3rd place on Friday by beating Guinea on penalties.

Ibrahim Adel (Egypt), named man of the match, was named the best player of the competition, while his teammate Hamza Alaa is the best goalkeeper. Moroccan striker Abdessamad Ezalzouli is the competition’s top scorer with 3 goals scored while Guinea is the fair play team.
