Morocco: His Majesty Mohamed VI honored by CAF, CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup at hand

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarded Tuesday in Kigali in the Rwandan capital, the prize “CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award-2022” to His Majesty the King of Morocco Mohamed VI for his commitment to the development of Moroccan football in 2022, one more point for the candidacy of the Cherifian kingdom to organize the CAN 2025 and the 2030 world.

This prize was received by the representative of His Majesty, the Minister of National Education and Sports Chakib Benmoussa who, at the same time, delivered the winner’s message.

“In my country – the Kingdom of Morocco, I wanted to make football a lever for success and sustainable human development. In addition to being a passion and the expression of creative talent, football is a vision for the future, a long-term commitment, efficient and transparent governance, and an investment in infrastructure as much as in human capital. “, he said.

The Atlas Lions of Morocco, who shone at the last World Cup in Qatar with the bonus of a 4th place , did honor to Africa and “to these values of perseverance, abnegation and transcendence. We are working to root them by combining sport with education, so as to broaden the practice of football in particular, to bring out potential and support detected talents with appropriate training”.

For him, this award “represents, in My eyes, a recognition of the choices that I have made as My own, to put in place the conditions conducive to its expression and promotion. Because, beyond sport, football is the result of a long-term construction”.

The representative of the Moroccan sovereign also noted the commitment of Rwandan President Paul Kagame (also winner of the same prize) for the African continent. He stressed that it is “an unshakable confidence in our African continent, in its young people and in its capacities. We are working on it, without ever being satisfied with our wishes, nor resting on our achievements”.

Morocco takes another step for its candidacy for CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup

This prize, awarded in the presence of CAF President Patrice Motsepe and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, two emblematic figures of world football, is a recognition of the two umbrella organizations, of Morocco’s commitment to football.

In terms of infrastructure and the organization of major sporting events or not, the Cherifian kingdom is present and can host any competition. The opportunity was given to the representative of King Mohamed VI to formalize Morocco’s candidacy for the organization of the 2030 World Cup with its neighbors, Portugal and Spain.

“In this spirit, I am announcing before your assembly that the Kingdom of Morocco has decided, with Spain and Portugal, to present a joint candidacy to host the 2030 World Cup”, indicated the Minister of National Education and Sports Chakib Benmoussa, representative of the King.

“Unprecedented in the history of football, this joint candidacy will be that of the junction: between Africa and Europe, between the north and the south of the Mediterranean, and between the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds. It will also be a rallying bid around the best on both sides, and the demonstration of an alliance of genius, creativity, experience and means,” he continued.

During the “Media Tour” last February, Morocco introduced journalists to its potential in terms of infrastructure and its policy for the development of sport.
