Molo Police Chief Warns Against Vigilantism Following Arson Incident

Molo – Timon Odingo, the Molo Sub-County Police Commander, has called on the residents of Kapsita B area to refrain from engaging in acts of vigilantism related to security matters. This appeal follows an incident where local residents set fire to three houses owned by John Muriuki, a suspected cattle rustler who remains at large.

According to Kenya News Agency, the incident occurred after it was discovered that cattle stolen from John Muma in Milimani estate were traced back to Muriuki’s property. Odingo noted that the police, acting on a tip from the public, were unable to find Muriuki at his home, which had been burned down by the community in retaliation.

Odingo emphasized the importance of legal processes and warned the community against taking justice into their own hands. He highlighted the residents’ responsibility to cooperate with law enforcement and other security institutions to ensure that suspects are legally processed and tried.

Investigations into the arson and cattle theft are underway, with the anti-stock theft unit leading the efforts to resolve the case and apprehend the suspects involved.
