Mouhoun: Women in the commune of Safan© received free specialized care on Thursday, January 22 and Friday, January 23, 2026, through a mobile clinic mission deployed first to the Banou Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) and then to the Safan© Medical Center. Many women benefited from preventative services that were previously difficult to access, in an atmosphere deemed satisfactory and marked by their strong participation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this health campaign was primarily aimed at promoting the early diagnosis of precancerous lesions of the cervix and breast, two pathologies that constitute a real public health problem. The multidisciplinary team, composed of experienced professionals, first engaged with the population to raise awareness and encourage participation before commencing medical services.
The activities proceeded without any incident, allowing the team to intervene effectively. In addition to consultations, beneficiaries received practical advice on good lifestyle habits, hygiene, and disease prevention. Led by doctors Ursule Ido and Alimata Yam©ogo from the Regional Hospital Center of D©dougou and coordinated by Dr. Salfo Zongo, the mission aligned with the vision of the President of Faso to bring quality health care closer to the population, wherever they are.
"Some diseases, when detected early, can be treated before they develop into cancer," stressed Dr. Salfo Zongo, who emphasized the importance of ultrasound-mammograms, colposcopies, and regular gynecological examinations. P©lagie Dabir©/Som© also demonstrated the technique of breast self-palpation, presented as an essential gesture for prevention and early detection.
At the end of the two-day activities, the cumulative results showcased the impact of this local action. A total of 770 people were made aware of the early detection of breast and cervical cancers, 142 gynecological consultations were conducted, 68 colposcopies, 49 ultrasound mammograms, and 43 obstetric and pelvic ultrasounds were performed, contributing to the improvement of prenatal care.
The mission leaders reaffirmed that the fight against women's cancers relies on awareness, early detection, and regular medical follow-up. They encouraged women to adopt good prevention practices in a sustainable way to preserve their health and that of their families.
