Ministry Stresses Need for Consolidating Collaboration to Exploit Ethiopia’s Energy Potential

Addis Ababa: A need for strengthening collaboration among government and solar suppliers, and manufacturers was stressed today in order to properly exploit Ethiopia's untapped energy potential, particularly solar energy. According to Ethiopian News Agency, Water and Energy State Minister Sultan Welle emphasized the crucial role of energy in achieving all forms of development and prosperity. He asserted that without energy, development, economic growth, modernization, and civilization would be unattainable, and broad-based prosperity could not be realized. The state minister highlighted Ethiopia's abundant renewable energy resources, with a significant focus on solar power, which is essential in meeting the nation's energy needs. He explained that Ethiopia's solarization program aims to harness solar energy more productively, especially for rural communities. The primary aim of the Ethio-Solar Trade Fair 2025, as outlined by the state minister, is to foster a conducive environment for the private sector, f acilitating dynamic collaboration between the government, solar suppliers, and manufacturers. Ethiopian Solar Energy Development Association (ESEDA) chairwoman Hawi Tesfaye stated that the fair serves as a crucial platform for collaboration during a key phase in Ethiopia's renewable energy journey. She emphasized the importance of uniting stakeholders from various sectors to explore opportunities and address challenges within the solar energy sector. She further noted that the potential of solar energy in Ethiopia holds the promise of transforming lives, boosting agricultural productivity, creating jobs, and providing energy access to millions. The primary objective of the Solar Trade Fair 2025 is to establish vibrant networking exhibitions and trade shows.
