Ministry of Planning and Development, UNICEF Launch Innovation Competition for Ethiopian Youth


ADDIS ABABA — The Ministry of Planning and Development (MOPD), in partnership with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), has launched an Innovation Competition aimed at identifying and empowering youth climate champions in Ethiopia. The competition is open to young Ethiopians aged 18 to 24 and seeks to engage them in climate advocacy while encouraging the sharing of innovative ideas for lasting environmental impact.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the top two winners of the competition will be sponsored to join the Ethiopian National Delegation at the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will be held in Azerbaijan. This opportunity will allow the winners to represent Ethiopian youth on a global stage, contributing to important discussions on climate change.



The deadline for submissions is August 25, 2024, as stated by the Ministry of Planning and Development.
