Ministry of Justice and GSP Triumph in Governor’s Inter-Service Cup Final

Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Justice team, alongside the Prison Security Guards (GSP), claimed victory in the 3rd edition of the Governor’s Inter-Service Cup of the Central Region on Saturday evening. They narrowly defeated the team from the 3rd military region with a score of 1-0, as reported by AIB.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the match was a closely contested battle between two formidable teams, each showcasing their strengths. Ultimately, the Ministry of Justice and GSP team capitalized on their opportunities, securing the championship title for the 2025 edition.



The victorious team was awarded the prestigious trophy, gold medals, 100,000 FCFA, two balls, and additional special prizes. The 3rd military region team, as runners-up, received silver medals, 70,000 FCFA, one ball, and special prizes.



This annual competition, now in its third year, was part of the Regional Week of Living Together in the Centre region. Organized under the leadership of Governor Abdoulaye Bassinga, the initiative aims to foster unity and community engagement within the region.



Governor Bassinga emphasized the role of sports as a unifying force, stating, “It is a truism to state that sport is a powerful factor of unity, development, and friction between young people, and an instrument of peace and the development of solidarity.”



The Citizenship Week also featured a variety of activities including a cross-country race, a mega-aerobics session, a women’s cycling race, board games, p©tanque, and a football tournament involving 16 teams from public and private sectors.



The event was under the patronage of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Emile Zerbo, with His Majesty the Mogho-Naaba Baongho presiding over the final, and El Hadj Hamado Ou©draogo overseeing the entire week.



Plans are already underway to hold the 4th edition of the event next year.
