Ministry of Economy Encourages Consumption of ‘Made in Burkina’ Products

Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning encourages the consumption of "made in Burkina" products. The Ministry of Economy, Finance and Foresight celebrated this Wednesday, in its premises, the month of "Consume Local", an initiative led by the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) to promote national products and strengthen economic sovereignty. Chaired by Minister Dr. Aboubacar Nacanabo, the ceremony was attended by the Minister in charge of the Environment and the Minister of Agriculture, guests of honor at the event.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Nacanabo emphasized that consuming local products is a strong patriotic act that contributes to wealth creation. 'Buying local means believing in ourselves. It means trusting our hands, our land, our creativity and refusing to remain spectators in a world where others decide for us,' he stated.

Participants had the opportunity to visit various exhibition stands set up for the occasion, showcasing the diversity of products stemming from national expertise. Pascaline Kongo, a visitor, expressed her satisfaction, stating, 'I came to visit the stands and I bought tomatoes produced by SOFATO. The prices are affordable for the average Burkinabe consumer.'

Minister of the Environment, Roger Baro, expressed support for the initiative by the Ministry of the Economy, highlighting its potential to encourage lasting changes in consumption habits. Alongside this meeting, the two guests of honour received gifts from the officials of the ministry, symbolizing appreciation for their presence.

The ceremony concluded with the raising of the national colors, demonstrating the commitment of the ministry's staff to patriotic values.
