Ministerial Meeting of the Mediterranean countries of EU (EU-MED7) – Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis’ participation (Athens, 11.06.2021)

The Meeting of the Ministers of the Mediterranean EU countries (EU-Med7) will be held in Athens, on Friday, June 11, 2021, in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who will deliver the opening address at 10 a.m. The purpose of this Ministerial Meeting is the preparation of the EU-Med7 Summit to be held in our country in September.

The invitation to the Ministers of European and Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Malta was extended by the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs for European issues, Miltiadis Varvitsiotis. Following the meeting in the morning, the participating Ministers of the 7 countries will make statements to the press at 12:45.

The agenda of the Ministerial Meeting includes the issues of pandemic management, the Next Generation EU funding instrument, green and digital transition, the European pillar of Social Rights, migration, the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the cooperation with Southern Neighbourhood countries, while special emphasis will be placed on the issue of the protection of the marine environment of the Mediterranean.
