FADA N’GOURMA: A ministerial delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean Marie Karamoko, visited the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in the Eastern region to encourage their efforts in maintaining national security. The visit, which took place on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, in Fada N’Gourma, aimed to convey the government’s gratitude and reinforce the troops’ morale as they continue their mission to secure the nation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation included Minister in charge of Higher Education Pr Adjima Thiombiano, Minister of Mines Zagr© Yacouba Gouba, and Colonel Daba Naon, the commander of the national fire brigade and sponsor of the region’s security. They were tasked by President Captain Ibrahim Traor© to deliver a message of solidarity and appreciation to the forces tirelessly working to reclaim and defend Burkina Faso’s territory.
Jean-Marie Karamoko Traor©, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and president of the government team, emphasized the importance of the visit, stating it was crucial to demonstrate the government’s support and proximity to the troops on the ground. “We know that this evening, while the majority of Burkinab©s will be celebrating their New Year’s Eve or engaging in religious activities, you will still be on the ground watching over us,” he remarked, highlighting the sacrifices made by the security forces.
Minister Traor© expressed the immense pride felt by the nation for the FDS and VDP, calling them the best Defense and Security Forces in Africa. He praised their ability to adapt to challenging circumstances and shift from a climate of anxiety and terror to one where hope is prevailing. “We have come to express all the pride that the people feel,” he stated, underscoring the significance of their dedication.
Pr Adjima Thiombiano reiterated the mission’s objective to commend the fighters and prepare them for the pivotal year of 2025. He conveyed the Head of State’s call for courage and resilience to restore security and peace, enabling development across Burkina Faso. The delegation’s visit was well-received by Commander Boubacar Dadijan of the 6th military region, who expressed his comfort and encouragement from the government’s support, motivating the troops to continue giving their best efforts.
