Luanda: Angolan Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies, and Social Communication, M¡rio Oliveira, called on Saturday for active citizen participation in the official electoral registration and proof-of-life process. The official made this appeal after updating his own registration at the One-Stop Public Service Center (BUAP) in the municipality of Talatona, Luanda.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Oliveira emphasized the importance of this civic duty to ensure the exercise of the right to vote in the 2027 general elections. He underlined that citizen participation in the process would contribute to more representative elections and bolster democratic engagement. "It is a civic duty for all Angolans to participate in this initiative, thereby becoming eligible to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections," he declared.
M¡rio Oliveira reported that the ministry had mobilized national directorates, institutes, and companies within the sector to raise awareness among workers, their families, and friends regarding the importance of electoral registration. He assessed the Talatona BUAP's operations positively, noting the speed of service, the simplicity of the procedure, and the technical competence of the staff. The process can be completed in a mere one or two minutes at the available service points.
The minister also praised the extension of service hours to Saturdays, which facilitates access for citizens who cannot attend during workdays. "The goal is to ensure that no Angolan is excluded from this process," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Armindo Mubita, the Municipal Director of Administrative Registration and Mobilization for Talatona, reported a growing participation trend, with a daily average of between 280 and 300 users. The municipality currently hosts three service centers located at the Talatona Municipal Administration, the Benfica Commune Administration, and the Lar do Patriota neighborhood.
