Minister Roger Baro Urges Unity and Vigilance Among Defense Forces in Tuy Against Terrorism

HOUNDÉ, TUY — During a governmental visit to Houndé, Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation Roger Baro called on the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of Tuy Province to demonstrate unity and cohesion in their ongoing battle against terrorism.

According to Burkina Information Agency, who led the delegation that included Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance Fatoumata Bako and Secretary General of the Government and Council of Ministers Mathias Traoré, it is crucial for military and volunteer forces to coordinate their efforts and maintain vigilance. Addressing the forces on Thursday, August 29, 2024, Baro emphasized the importance of coalition and collaborative tactics in overcoming security challenges.

Baro conveyed the government's gratitude and support to the troops, relaying commendations from both the President of Faso and the Prime Minister for their dedication to combating terrorism. He stressed the importance of adhering strictly to command instructions and enhancing cooperation with local communities to foster trust and improve operational effectiveness.

Echoing Baro’s sentiments, Secretary General Mathias Traoré expressed pride in the accomplishments of the FDS and VDP, acknowledging their hard work despite significant challenges and the tangible results of their efforts.

In response, the provincial director in charge of the environment of Tuy, Paulin Bationo, speaking on behalf of the FDS and VDP, reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the province and articulated the concerns and conditions of the forces to the high-level government representatives.
