Davos: The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Jos© de Lima Massano, emphasized the significance of sustainable and inclusive exploration of strategic minerals during a session in Davos, Switzerland. He highlighted this as essential for mobilizing resources necessary to build infrastructure that supports economic development.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Angolan official made his remarks during a “reserved” interactive session with policymakers, investors, and business leaders. The session was part of the “Investing in Critical Minerals Value Chains” workshop at the World Economic Forum’s 55th Annual Meeting, which commenced on Monday in the Swiss Confederation. The workshop stressed the importance of public-private partnerships.

The morning session convened stakeholders from the Securing Minerals for the Energy Transition initiative. This initiative unites leaders from across the critical minerals value chain, including the financial, investment, and industrial sectors, to bolster global collaboration.

Participants analyzed investment needs and explored risk mitigation strategies within the value chain for these minerals. They discussed the role of public-private partnerships and collaborative business models to secure critical minerals for the energy transition.

The workshop also showcased successful public-private partnership cases that mobilized funding to enable innovative solutions for strategic minerals. Despite advances in increasing the supply of some critical minerals and metals, experts anticipate a supply-demand gap by 2030. This gap could destabilize resource supply chains, necessitating greater collaboration and strategic investment along the value chain.

Additionally, Jos© de Lima Massano, representing the Angolan Head of State Joo Louren§o, is scheduled to partake in the special interventions plenary addressed by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. On Wednesday, he will attend the Forum of Friends of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA). This event, themed “Transforming Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa,” aims to promote AFCFTA implementation through public-private partnerships.

The event is expected to gather around 3,000 participants, including heads of state and government, business leaders, heads of international organizations, civil society representatives, academics, and cultural sector members.
