Gourma: The Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, has urged participants of the Fada N’Gourma livestock market to avoid complicity in the concealment of terrorist assets to effectively combat terrorism. The market is a significant economic hub in Burkina Faso’s Eastern region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the theft and sale of livestock stolen by terrorists have become a primary source of financing for terrorism. Acting on instructions from the President of Faso, Minister Sana engaged with stakeholders of the livestock market and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) of Fada N’Gourma to discuss strategies to cut off this financial source for terrorists.
Minister Sana emphasized the dangers of complicity and asset concealment that aid terrorism financing. He appealed to the public to refrain from assisting those who handle terrorist assets, stressing the importance of their cooperation for a swift victory in the fight against terrorism.
Expressing contentment with the initial security measures o
bserved, Minister Sana noted the need for reorganization and reinforcement to enhance market security. Salif Tandamba, the president of the butchers of Fada N’Gourma, expressed relief at the minister’s engagement with market stakeholders to address security concerns.
Resource person Yaya Nassouri called for the municipal administration to renew the management structures of the livestock market, noting that it has been over a decade since they were last updated.
