Minister of Industry Presides Over Strategic Consultative Council in Luau Municipality

Luau: The minister of Industry and Commerce, Rui Miguªns de Oliveira, has commenced a 48-hour visit to the municipality of Luau, situated in the province of Moxico Leste, where he is set to lead the 6th Consultative Council meeting of the institution.

According to Angola Press News Agency, upon his arrival at Luau Airport, Minister Rui Miguªns de Oliveira was greeted by local governor Crispiniano dos Santos. The two engaged in a courtesy meeting to outline the objectives of the Consultative Council, setting the stage for the significant discussions ahead.

The minister's itinerary includes a crucial visit to the border area between Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to evaluate cross-border trade opportunities. Additionally, he will inspect the site designated for the future Industrial Hub, a key component in the region's industrial development.

In the afternoon, the minister will oversee the opening of the 6th Consultative Council at the Luau Intermediate Agricultural Technical Institute. Themed "Integrate, produce, and market: pathways to sustainable growth," the event gathers government officials, business leaders, experts, and institutional partners to discuss strategies for economic advancement.

The two-day council will focus on public policies aimed at boosting industrialization and trade, enhancing Angola's competitiveness, and fostering a more productive and sustainable economic environment. Key topics include the socio-economic investment potential of Moxico Leste, Angola's industrialization and productive transformation, and the impact of industrial policy on non-oil GDP growth.

Further discussions will address the impact on production and quality, challenges in developing industrial hubs and parks, trade restructuring plans, and the role of integrated logistics in enhancing national production competitiveness. Participants will also explore the EAA as an operational platform linking national production with logistics, wholesale distribution, and markets.

Moxico Leste, with its population of over 400,000 and a land area of approximately 223,023 square kilometers, is one of Angola's newly formalized provinces. Established in 2025, it aims to enhance the accessibility of social services. The province includes nine municipalities: Caianda, Cameia, Cazombo, Lago Dilolo, L³vua do Zambeze, Luacano, Luau, Macondo, and Nana Candundo.
