Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will visit the Republic of Malta (Valletta) on Monday, October 10, 2022, where he will hold talks with Foreign Minister of Malta, Ian Borg.
The two Foreign Ministers will have a one-on-one meeting, followed by expanded talks between the two delegations.
Foreign Ministers are scheduled to make joint statements to the press at approximately 12:30 (Greek time).
The Minister will then have a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta, Anġlu Farrugia.
During his stay in Valletta, Mr. Dendias will be received by the President of Malta, George Vella.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs’ discussions in Malta are expected to cover a wide range of issues, such as prospects for further strengthening bilateral relations, cooperation between the two countries within the EU, and the migration-refugee issue. Moreover, talks are also expected to focus on international and regional developments, including the situation in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion, as well as on developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and Libya.
This is the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ second visit to Valletta. The first one took place in February 2020, followed by a visit to Athens by the then Maltese Foreign Minister, Evarist Bartolo, in September 2020.
