Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will travel tomorrow, Tuesday, February 15, to Finland and the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, February 16, to Norway, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kostas Fragogiannis.
During his stay in Helsinki, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will have a private meeting with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto. A working lunch will follow and then joint statements to the press will take place (at approximately 14.45 local time).
While in Helsinki, the Foreign Minister will also participate in a roundtable discussion at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will focus on developments in Eastern Europe.
In Norway, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kostas Fragogiannis, will meet with the Norwegian Minister of Finance, Trygve Slagsvold Vedum.
The Foreign Minister will then hold a private meeting with his Norwegian counterpart, Anniken Huitfeldt.
Expanded talks during a working lunch as well as joint statements to the press will follow (at approximately 13.30 local time).
Afterwards, the Foreign Minister, accompanied by the Deputy Foreign Minister, will visit the Parliament of Norway, where they will meet with the Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence, Ine Eriksen Søreide.
Concluding his visit to Norway, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will give a talk at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), titled “Implementing the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea – The Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean as a case study” (at approximately 15.30 local time).
Talks with the senior officials of the two countries will focus on strengthening bilateral relations in all areas. At the same time, the latest developments in Eastern Europe and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region will be discussed, in the light of EU (with Finland) and NATO solidarity (with Norway).
