Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias will travel to Canada today, March 14, on his first visit to the country between 14 and 15 March 2023.
During his stay in the Canadian capital, the Minister and his Canadian counterpart, Mélanie Joly, as well as the two countries’ delegations will hold talks during a working breakfast on Wednesday, March 15, at approximately 08:45 (local time).
Following the talks, the two Foreign Ministers will travel to Montreal.
During their stay there, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Canadian counterpart will attend a lunch hosted in their honor by Greek Diaspora associations in Canada.
Afterwards, Mr. Dendias, accompanied by the Canadian Foreign Minister, will visit the Hellenic Community Centre of Greater Montreal and the “Socrates-Demosthenes” Greek School.
Following that, the two Foreign Ministers will make joint statements to the press at approximately 14:45 (local time).
Lastly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with the Canadian Foreign Minister, will visit the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Archangels Michael and Gabriel and will hold a meeting with His Eminence Archbishop of Canada Sotirios.
During his visit to Canada, the Minister’s talks with his Canadian counterpart are expected to cover the excellent bilateral relations in a wide range of areas, the cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, both countries’ commitment to common principles and values as well as issues related to the Greek Diaspora in Canada serving as a link between the two countries. Furthermore, discussions are expected to focus on international and regional developments including the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
