Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias will travel to Washington D.C., on October 13-14, in order to participate in the third round of the Greece-USA Strategic Dialogue. He is also expected to sign, together with his US counterpart Antony Blinken, the second Protocol of Amendment to the Mutual Defence Cooperation Agreement.
On Wednesday, October 13, Mr. Dendias will meet with Congressman John Sarbanes, as well as with Senator Chris Van Hollen.
Furthermore, he will have a meeting with the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yair Lapid, who will also be in Washington.
He will attend a reception with representatives of the Greek Diaspora.
On Thursday, October 14, he will be visiting the State Department, where he will initially have a private meeting with the US Secretary of State. Expanded talks will follow.
The two Ministers will make introductory remarks for the launch of the third round of the Strategic Dialogue.
Statements are expected to begin at about 16:45, Greek time, and will be broadcast live on the State Department’s website.
Immediately afterwards, the signing of the Second Protocol of Amendment to the Mutual Defence Cooperation Agreement will follow.
Subsequently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs is expected to meet with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who will also be in Washington.
Finally, he will participate in an event organized by the Center for European Policy Analysis on the role of Greece in the Eastern Mediterranean.
