Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will welcome in Athens tomorrow, May 13, 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani.
The two Foreign Ministers will have a one-on-one meeting, which will be followed by expanded talks.
Joint statements to the press are expected to take place at approximately 12:40.
Then a working lunch will follow.
Discussions are expected to focus on further strengthening bilateral relations in areas of common interest with an emphasis on trade and economic co-operation, education, as well as on developments and challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Gulf region.
Minister of Foreign Affairs’ invitation to the Foreign Minister of Bahrain falls within the framework of strengthening the traditionally excellent bilateral relations between Greece and countries of the region, following the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Gulf Cooperation Council (April 2021).
The two Foreign Ministers had previously met in Bahrain, in November 2021, as well as in Athens, in February of the same year, within the framework of the “Philia Forum”.
