I am in Abu Dhabi today to meet with my counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
First of all, the meeting takes place in the framework of the signed Agreement between Greece and the United Arab Emirates on Joint Cooperation in Foreign Policy and Defence.
I would like to brief him on what we are facing in the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkey’s provocative conduct and the questioning of Greece’s sovereignty over Aegean islands.
Beyond that, I’d like us to assess the investment-economic forum that was held in Athens, which we believe was a great success and involves UAE investment in the Greek economy. But also, to take a general overview of the situation in the region, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as the situation in Syria, Libya, the Sahel region and the Middle East in general.
I believe our meetings are always interesting. The United Arab Emirates plays a pivotal role in the region and has already established itself as a dynamic bridge between Greece and India.
