Dear Sergey,

First of all, I would like to thank you very much for your invitation to visit and meet with you today in Moscow. I have the impression, if I have counted correctly, that this is our fifth meeting in the last two or two and a half years.

However, I consider our meeting today to be a meeting of great importance. Thank you for the opportunity to discuss the security situation in Europe in depth.

As is well known, Greece stands for maintaining peace, stability and security. It stands in favour of a constructive dialogue, always on the basis of International Law, but also of International Law of the Sea. And, of course, on the basis of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter.

I would also like to have the opportunity to brief you on developments in the Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as on the Cyprus issue, and to ask for your views on developments in Syria and Libya.

Finally, I look forward to an extensive discussion on ways to further develop our bilateral relations, especially following Prime Minister Mitsotakis’ meeting with President Putin last December. I think there is an important bilateral agenda that we can promote in our meeting today.

Thank you again.
