First of all, this is the first ever visit by a Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs. In this regard, it is of significance. Aside from that, it falls within the context of deepening our relations with this country. We share a lot of things, both in terms of the tourism industry, but also in terms of our overall views on International Law and the International Law of the Sea.
Moreover, I would like to say that it is extremely important that Montego Bay, the city where UNCLOS, the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, was signed, is twinned with Sitia. A Greek city on the edge of Crete, at a highly strategic location, where the precise implementation of the Law of the Sea becomes a matter of national importance. I would, therefore, like to congratulate the Mayor, the Municipal Council, the residents of Sitia for this excellent choice.
