The European Special Envoys Retreat on Syria in Athens today, with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy, Geir Pedersen in attendance, is proof of Greece’s enhanced role in the Syrian issue.
It’s an upgrade that we have consistently and continuously sought over the past years, because the Syrian issue, through the migration-refugee issue and the threat of terrorism, affects not only Greece but also the Eastern Mediterranean as a whole.
Greece has its own Special Envoy for Syria, Ambassador T. Athanasiou, and will continue to assist in every way possible to achieve peace, justice, and stability in Syria.
