Burkina: Civil and military altercation, CAN 2023 qualifier and the presidential initiative on the daily menu

The daily newspapers of this Monday talk about the altercation between civilians and soldiers in Bobo, the presidential initiative and the qualifiers for the CAN Côte-d’Ivoire 2023.

L’Observateur Paalga headlines: “Bobo-Dioulasso: One dead and several injured in a civil/military altercation”.

The newspaper says that on Thursday June 15, 2023, serious altercations opposed civilians and soldiers in a district of the city of Bobo-Dioulasso.

The Observer Paalga adds that these incidents, which occurred following the attack on a soldier from the Bobo-Dioulasso garrison, unfortunately caused several civilian injuries, including one who succumbed to his injuries.

The daily continues that the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces has firmly condemned his inadmissible actions which are undermining the essential link between the Army and the Nation.

The newspaper, Le Pays indicates that these actions are likely to undermine the efforts of social cohesion and collaboration between civilians and the military.

On another subject, Sidwaya headlines: “Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem from Tambéla to Bobo-Dioulasso: The Prime Minister launches the presidential initiative “Referent-Opportunities-Insertion”.

The public daily Sidwaya writes that the Prime Minister launched on Saturday the presidential initiative “Referent-opportunities-insertion” in the 302 rural communes of Burkina at the national agricultural training school of Matourkou.

On the same subject, the private daily, L’Observateur Paalga headlines: “Referent-opportunity-insertion: The presidential triptych to defeat terrorism”.

The newspaper reports that it is a new arrow that is added to the bow of President Ibrahim Traoré in the context of the fight against terrorism, with the launch, Saturday June 17, 2023 in Matourkou of the Referent initiative -opportunity- insertion.

The daily adds that through this presidential initiative, the government wants to find answers to the many concerns of young people in rural areas in order to save them from the temptation of the jihadist phenomenon and to direct them towards socio-economic activities.

In the sports page, the private newspaper, Le Pays headlines: “Can Côte-D’Ivoire 2023 Elimination: The Stallions do not resist the fury of the Blue Sharks”.

The newspaper informs that the match counting for the 5th day of the CAN Côte d’Ivoire 2O23 qualifiers between the Blue Sharks and the Stallions in group B in Praia was played this Sunday, June 18 at the national stadium of Cap- Green .

The newspaper reports that this meeting ended in victory for Cape Verde by 3 goals to 1.
