Minister of Communications Officially Opens First Somali National Cybersecurity Forum

Mogadishu – Today, the Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Government of Somalia, HE Jama Hassan Khalif, inaugurated the 1st Somali National Cybersecurity Forum in the capital city.

According to a news release by the Somali National News Agency, the Minister emphasized the importance of cybersecurity in safeguarding Somalia’s digital future. He spoke on the need for robust security measures to protect the nation’s growing digital infrastructure and assets.

The Director General of the National Communications Authority, Mr. Mustaf Yasin Sheikh, also addressed the forum. He outlined the NCA’s commitment to collaborating with all relevant government stakeholders in developing comprehensive cybersecurity frameworks. “We are committed to working closely with all stakeholders to develop robust cybersecurity frameworks, foster information sharing, and enhance technical capabilities to ensure the resilience of Somalia’s digital ecosystem,” Director General Mustaf stated.

The forum represents a significant step for Somalia in formalizing its approach to cybersecurity, involving government entities and emphasizing the need for a coordinated and robust strategy to secure the nation’s digital landscape.
