Koudougou: In a move aimed at reaffirming the importance of cultural values in the Burkinabe education system, which is undergoing a major overhaul, the Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosth¨ne Dingara, made a significant visit to Koudougou on Wednesday, AIB noted.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Minister was accompanied by his Secretary General, members of his cabinet, and central directors. During his visit, he met with young schoolchildren from the commune of Koudougou at the cultural site “Maasm©”, a place of national and international renown.
The visit was organized in collaboration with Naaba Saaga I, Chief of Issouka, and aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of African cultural values such as solidarity, love of one’s neighbor, and cultural identity. Minister Dingara emphasized that these values must serve as the foundation of the Burkinabe education system in a context of resilience, reform, and independence.
“It is essential to reconnect our education with our cultural roots,” the minister said during direct exchanges with students. He added that “we must build an education system that reflects our values and our identity.”
The students had the opportunity to interact with members of the delegation and to visit the site’s museum, guided by the site’s managers. This visit to Koudougou marks an important step in the overhaul of the Burkinabe education system, with an emphasis on the promotion and integration of cultural values.
The delegation also included local figures such as the regional director, Abylaic© Rouamba, the provincial directors of Boulkiemd© and Sangui©, educational supervisors, and teachers.
