Luanda: The minister of the Interior, Manuel da Concei§o Homem, praised the Rapid Intervention Police (PIR) for their dedication to serving Angola with honour and readiness. He highlighted their persistence through ongoing training and capacity building to address public security challenges across the nation.
According to Angola Press News Agency, in a congratulatory message marking the 33rd anniversary of PIR, Homem commended the efforts of the personnel for their tactical interventions in high-risk organized crime situations. He emphasized their courage and determination in operations and acknowledged the continued dedication of the PIR’s National Command in training its staff.
The anniversary, observed on June 4, 2025, marks 33 years since the establishment of PIR as a special force of the Angolan National Police. The unit is tasked with maintaining and restoring public order in complex situations and managing critical incidents. Established in 1992, PIR remains committed to ensuring social peace through the application of complex tactical measures in police confrontations.
